Well, S and I made it to Florida safe and sound yesterday! We actually ended up making it to the airport a little later than we anticipated we would (traffic was bad, and we were poky getting ready to go), but we made it to the gate on time, and the flight was otherwise uneventful.
The hotel has so far exceeded our expectations– it’s gorgeous! We had read that if you joined the hotel’s free “preferred member” program, you were likely to get an upgrade, so I had done just that two weeks before we arrived. Also, when the receptionist asked if we were celebrating anything special, I told him it was our “babymoon”- our last vacation before the baby arrived. We were promptly upgraded from the room we reserved (which was the cheapest they had), to a junior one bedroom suite, with an unreal view of the ocean. Here it is:
And here’s the room:
I was standing on our sitting area when I took the picture.
And yes, let me say that once again, we realize that we are SO lucky!
Today we spent the morning sleeping in, grabbing brunch, and sitting by the pool. It was glorious. The weather has been great– it’s hot, but I jumped into the pool whenever the heat was too much. It was a strange feeling being in the pool, I think I have become used to the extra weight I am carrying in front, but when I stepped into the pool and suddenly the weight lifted… it felt wonderful!!!
Oh- and a big thank you to my sister-in-law Laura. Those that know her know that she’s very, very thoughtful— she has continually been sending S and I stuff to borrow (a monitor, maternity clothes, etc.), and one of the treasures she sent was a maternity swimsuit. Despite that Laura is SUCH a tiny person, miraculously, the swimsuit fits perfectly, and it’s been so wonderful to have.
I also neglected to update last week on Miss P’s development! I’m now 29 weeks and one day. She’s between 15 and 16 inches long, and weighs two and a half pounds to three pounds. She continues to put on weight, and is getting stronger- as evidenced by her constant kicks and movements. Today I had such fun just watching her move around- I can see her clearly from the outside, as well as feeling her constantly inside. So much fun.
