I still haven’t posted Lucy’s eight month pictures, but she had her 9 month checkup Monday, so I thought I’d combine an update with some “old” pictures. Lucy officially weighed in at 19 pounds, 5 ounces at Monday’s appointment, which puts her in the 75th percentile for weight. Genetics IS catching up, however, as her height is now only in the 50th percentile! Lucy’s pediatrician tells us that she is right on track, and looking great. The cutest part was when her doctor asked if she was clapping yet… and on cue, Lucy began clapping for him. I think it was pretty coincidental, and not because she knows the word “clap” yet, but it was still very cute (she claps if you clap with her, but doesn’t know the word yet). She did also have her iron levels checked, and all is well there, too. She didn’t appreciate the necessary finger poke, but she stopped crying the minute the nurse stepped away, and we distracted her with her favorite toy- paper!
In other developmental news, our little bean is not crawling yet, and we’re beginning to wonder if she will or if she’ll go straight to walking. She was doing the precursors to crawling (reaching out for items, and landing flat on her stomach), but she hated ending up on her tummy, so stopped. She absolutely loves to stand, but still doesn’t quite understand that she needs to hold on when standing up– I’m sure that will come, soon.
She is starting to do much better with solid foods, and our pediatrician has given her the green light to pretty much have anything we want to give her, including peanut butter and egg whites. Now at every meal I’m trying to make sure she has a couple finger foods to practice with, as well as continuously trying to expand her palette with different foods. We’re going to hold off, however, as long as we can, on overly sugary and salty foods, in hopes of giving her the healthiest start possible!
As for me, I’ll admit that I’m absolutely loving being home with our little girl. She is so much fun, and our days just seem to fly by. She is still getting up once a night to eat and I can’t quite believe that I haven’t had more than 5 hours of sleep at a stretch for nine whole months, but other than that, life is pretty, well… amazing. And yes, I know, I need to let her cry out that middle of the night feeding- but I will readily admit that I’m a huge softie and hate hearing her cry. I know it will be easier to do now than when she’s able to pull herself up… but still- the thought of doing it makes me cringe!
Okay, now on to the pictures!
Taking a picture with her month birthday “sign” has become very interesting- the second I put it down, she’s reaching for it:

And as soon as she gets a hold of it, she thinks she needs to crumple it and eat it:

I finally figured out that I need to “hide” it by putting it above her head!

Some more cute shots:

A few more random shots– Grandma Sandy and Grandpa Bruce were in town a couple weekends ago, and took all of us out to brunch– here they are giving Lucy one of her FAVORITE treats: water!

Aunt Tanya was there, too!

And last but not least, Lucy finally has enough hair for a bow- this is from the first day she wore one (excuse the prune juice stain on her shirt!!), and I confess that I squealed out loud at how cute she was with her little bow:
